Press release -

The Parliament of Finland has approved an Agreement on Social Security between Finland and India and the related legislation.

On 17 October, the Finnish Government proposed that the President of Finland approve the Agreement on Social Security and pass the legislation related to it, so that the decrees related to legislation could be entered into force. The President of Finland is due to approve the Agreement on Friday 25 October. The Agreement will enter into force as soon as it has also been approved by India.

The Agreement will affect the social security of people moving between Finland and India and shall apply in particular to pensions. The Agreement will ensure that posted or detached employees will not be required to pay pension contributions in double, which is of great importance to Finnish companies based in India and their employees.

The Agreement also includes provisions on payment of pensions between the states and will make applying for pension simpler.
