Legitimeringen av läkare som studerat utomlands ändras
Syftet med ändringen är att förtydliga legitimeringsprocessen för läkare som studerat utomlands och förbättra patientsäkerheten. Samtidigt förbättrar man rättsskyddet för läkare som ansöker om legitimation, då dessa får sin utbildning genast i början av legitimeringsprocessen godkänd genom ett överklagbart beslut.
Lagen om yrkesutbildade personer inom hälso- och sjukvården kommer även att ändras. Valvira kan begära utredningar av den yrkesmässiga funktionsförmågan, hälsotillståndet och kompetensen hos personer som ansöker om yrkesrättigheter inom hälso- och sjukvård om det finns en grundad anledning för det. Detta är nödvändigt i situationer där sökanden misstänks lida av en sjukdom som hindrar yrkesutövandet, rusmedelsmissbruk eller nedsatt funktionsförmåga.
Samtidigt kompletterar man uppgifterna i centralregistret över yrkesutbildade personer inom hälso- och sjukvården. I centralregistret införs i framtiden också sådana uppgifter om personer som studerar till ett yrke inom hälso- och sjukvården som kräver legitimation, vilka omfattas av regionförvaltningsverkets eller Valviras tillsynsåtgärder.
Regeringen framställde ett stadfästande av lagen gällande ärendet den 19 mars. Republikens president ämnar stadfästa lagen på fredag. Lagen träder i kraft den 1 april 2015.
