Priorities set on pharmaceutical policy
A new prioritisation of approaches to the safety, availability and use in medical treatment of pharmaceuticals is the theme of a range of policy lines drawn up by the ministry.
These are designed to consolidate high standards in pharmaceutical treatment and drug safety together with the development of treatment methods. It also entails ensuring that pharmaceutical treatments are available comprehensively throughout the country and that increases in pharmaceutical costs do not result in people being unable to afford the treatment they need.
The policy lines also address the administration of the pharmaceutical sector. A central task for the inspection authorities is to integrate their work with the EU pharmaceutical inspection regime.
The ministry’s new policy lines run until 2010.
