29.4.2025 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is requesting comments on a change to the national vaccination programme that would mean offering the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine to everyone who is pregnant. The vaccine is safe for both the mother and the foetus, and it would prevent the majority of severe whooping cough cases in babies under three months of age.

12.6.2025 | From 1 July 2025 onwards, pregnant people will be offered the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine as part of the national vaccination programme. Studies show that vaccination during pregnancy is effective in protecting newborns from getting whooping cough. The vaccine is safe for both the mother and the foetus. Having the vaccine will be voluntary.

3.12.2018 | Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet lämnar inte regeringens proposition om ändring av 3 och 48 § i lagen om smittsamma sjukdomar till riksdagen före jul. Avsikten har varit att paragrafernas ordalydelse ska preciseras och förtydligas. Under beredningens gång har det dock visat sig att det behövs mer tid för beredningen av propositionen.

13.4.2023 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has prepared an amendment to a decree by which COVID-19 caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 would no longer be classified as a generally hazardous communicable disease. In future, it would be defined as a monitored communicable disease. Comments are to be submitted by 5 May 2023.

21.6.2023 | The Regulation on the EU Digital COVID Certificate will expire on 30 June 2023. In future, the Certificate will no longer be used jointly by the EU Member States. People can still get the EU Digital COVID Certificate from the MyKanta online service if they need one.

20.12.2022 | Statsrådet fattade idag beslut om att vaccin mot covid-19 ska överlåtas till aktörer inom den privata hälso- och sjukvården. Avsikten med beslutet är att även andra personer än de som riskerar att allvarligt insjukna i covid-19 ska kunna bli vaccinerade.

19.1.2023 | I fortsättningen kan vacciner mot covid-19 erbjudas till barn som är sex månader gamla eller äldre. Statsrådet godkände ändringen i förordningen den 19 januari. Hittills har åldersgränsen för vaccinerna mot covid-19 varit 5 år.

21.6.2023 | Förordningen om EU:s digitala covidintyg upphör att gälla den 30 juni 2023. I fortsättningen är covidintyget inte längre gemensamt för EU-länderna. Intyget fås fortfarande från Kanta-tjänsten, om det finns behov för det.

I den gällande förordningen är åldersgränsen 5 år för vaccinationer mot covid-19. Remisstiden går ut den 5 januari 2023.

Det föreslås att covid-19 i fortsättningen ska definieras som en övervakningspliktig smittsam sjukdom. Ändringen av förordningen är på remiss fram till den 5 maj 2023.

22.12.2022 | Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet har fattat beslut om statsunderstöd till kommuner, samkommuner och landskapet Åland för kostnader orsakade av covid-19-pandemin 2022. Genom understödet ersätts merkostnader som orsakats av covid-19-pandemin under 2022, i synnerhet för testning, vaccinering och vård av covid-19-patienter. 

30.9.2022 | Various parties are currently reviewing the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization is preparing a new pandemic treaty to improve pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. On 28 September, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health arranged a meeting for stakeholders to discuss the treaty negotiations.

22.6.2022 | Sjukförsäkrade personer som bor eller arbetar i Finland ska har rätt att vaccinera sig och testa sig för covid-19 även i fortsättningen. Dessutom förlängs rätten till dagpenning vid smittsam sjukdom utan ett officiellt beslut.

23.6.2022 | The EU has extended the regulation on the EU Digital COVID Certificate by one year until 30 June 2023. The regulation will ensure free movement in the EU even if the COVID-19 situation deteriorates in the future. All travellers should still check beforehand whether their country of destination requires the certificate upon arrival or for using services.

1.4.2022 | On 1 April, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides, who is currently visiting Finland, will meet with Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Aki Lindén. During the day, they will pay a visit to the Helsinki Reception Centre in Punavuori and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre of the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa.

2.6.2022 | Mandatperioden för gruppen för lägesbilder och modeller över covid-19-epidemin löper ut i juni 2022. Gruppen har varannan vecka gett en lägesrapport om covid-19-epidemin och de åtgärder som vidtagits för att begränsa den, men den rapporteringen tar nu paus, och vilka rutiner det eventuellt blir i höst klarnar senare. Institutet för hälsa och välfärd (THL) bevakar fortsättningsvis hur covid-19-epidemin utvecklas och publicerar uppgifter om det på sin webbplats.

21.12.2021 | Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet har fattat beslut om statsunderstöd som beviljas kommuner, samkommuner och landskapet Åland för kostnader orsakade av covid-19-epidemin. Med understöden ersätts kostnader som under tiden 1 januari–31 augusti 2021 har orsakats av covid-19-epidemin, i synnerhet kostnader för testning, smittspårning, vaccination och vård.
