29.4.2025 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is requesting comments on a change to the national vaccination programme that would mean offering the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine to everyone who is pregnant. The vaccine is safe for both the mother and the foetus, and it would prevent the majority of severe whooping cough cases in babies under three months of age.

12.6.2025 | From 1 July 2025 onwards, pregnant people will be offered the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine as part of the national vaccination programme. Studies show that vaccination during pregnancy is effective in protecting newborns from getting whooping cough. The vaccine is safe for both the mother and the foetus. 3.12.2018 | Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet lämnar inte regeringens proposition om ändring av 3 och 48 § i lagen om smittsamma sjukdomar till riksdagen före jul. Avsikten har varit att paragrafernas ordalydelse ska preciseras och förtydligas. Under beredningens gång har det dock visat sig att det behövs mer tid för beredningen av propositionen.

25.4.2024 | Förordningarna har ändrats så att tandläkare, provisorer, farmaceuter, närvårdare och laboratorieskötare ska få rätt att ge vacciner i fortsättningen. Syftet med ändringarna är att försnabba i synnerhet säsongsvaccinationerna och att minska personalbristen inom hälso- och sjukvården. Förordningsändringarna träder i kraft den 1 maj 2024.

12.3.2025 | Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet har inlett en utredning om aktörerna och funktionerna inom verksamheten för utvärderingen av metoderna inom Finlands hälso- och sjukvård och om det beslutsfattande som utnyttjar utvärderingsinformationen.

14.3.2025 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health held a stakeholder event on 11 March to discuss the pandemic treaty that is currently being negotiated under the World Health Organization (WHO). The aim of the treaty is to strengthen international preparedness for pandemics and other public health emergencies. 

28.12.2023 | Syftet med ändringarna är att vaccinerandet ska försnabbas och bli smidigare och att minska bristen på arbetskraft inom hälso- och sjukvården De ändringar som är på remiss betyder att tandläkare, provisorer, farmaceuter, närvårdare, laboratorieskötare och primärskötare kan ge vacciner i fortsättningen. Ändringen av förordningen gör vaccinerandet möjligt även vid apotekens hälsopunkter.

3.12.2024 | Resilience and the report on the future of European competitiveness are on the agenda at the Health Council meeting in Brussels on 3 December 2024. On Finland's initiative, the meeting will also discuss the health sector’s role as part of the preparedness union strategy. Minister of Social Security Sanni Grahn-Laasonen will represent Finland at the meeting.

3.12.2024 | Ministrarna med ansvar för hälso- och sjukvård ska diskutera kriståligheten och EU:s rapport om konkurrenskraft på mötet i Bryssel den 3 december 2024. På Finlands initiativ diskuteras också frågan om hälso- och sjukvårdssektorns roll i beredskapsunionen. Finland företräds vid mötet av ministern för social trygghet Sanni Grahn-Laasonen.
