Eurooppalaista terveystietoaluetta koskeva EU-asetus (EHDS) tuli voimaan 26.3.2025 siirtymäajoin. Asetuksen täytäntöönpano on käynnissä. STM asetti ohjausryhmän EHDS-asetuksen kansallisen toimeenpanon koordinaatiota varten toimikaudelle 20.10.2025-30.4.2027. Ohjausryhmän alaisuuteen on nimetty toimikaudelle 29.10.2025-30.4.2027 kaksi alatyöryhmää.

Työryhmän tehtävänä on laatia ehdotus lääkkeiden arviointi- ja päätöksentekojärjestelmästä. Lisäksi tulee tehdä ehdotus sairausvakuutuksen lääkekorvausjärjestelmän ehdollista korvattavuutta koskevan sääntelyn kehittämistarpeista. Valmistelutyö tulee yhteensovittaa liittyvän terveydenhuollon menetelmien arviointia koskevan selvityshankkeen kanssa.

Euroopan komissio antoi 3.5.2022 ehdotuksen Euroopan parlamentin ja neuvoston asetukseksi eurooppalaisesta terveysdata-avaruudesta (COM (2022) 197 final). Sosiaali- ja terveysministeriö nimesi ohjausryhmän asetusehdotuksen toimeenpanon kansallista koordinaatiota varten. Ohjausryhmä asetettiin ajalle 1.1.2023- 31.12.2024.
