Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet beviljar statsunderstöd för flera projekt för utveckling av social- och hälsovården enligt regeringsprogrammet och för annat inom ramen för statsbudgeten.

Det föreskrivs att Institutet för hälsa och välfärd ska producera och sammanställa bedömningar av det terapeutiska och ekonomiska värdet (HTA-bedömning) av medicinska metoder och rehabiliteringsmetoder samt av de åtgärder som används inom hälso- och sjukvården för att förebygga, diagnostisera eller behandla sjukdomar. Den nationella servicereformen kompletterar den förra reformen av strukturerna för social- och hälsovårdstjänster, där ansvaret för anordnandet av tjänsterna överfördes från kommunerna till välfärdsområdena i början av år 2023. Den nya servicereformen är en del av regeringsprogrammet för statsminister Petteri Orpos regering. Social- och hälsovårdsministeriet ansvarar för beredningen av reformen.

8.12.2020 | The Government proposes that wellbeing services counties be established and healthcare, social welfare and rescue services be reformed. The proposed counties would be established as soon as possible after the passing and approval of the relevant bills. The bills would enter into force in stages, the first ones on 1 July 2021 and the last ones on 1 January 2023. However, Parliament needs to pass the legislative package before the reform can enter into force.

15.6.2020 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Interior request comments on the draft government proposal concerning the health and social services reform and the organisation of rescue services from the municipalities and joint municipal authorities of mainland Finland and other parties mentioned in the request for comments. The deadline for submitting comments is 25 September 2020.

26.10.2020 | As part of the preparation of the health and social services reform, an exercise will be carried out to establish cooperation between the central government and the future wellbeing services counties. This will be done during the negotiations designed to provide the counties with guidance and direction. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health will hold the negotiations with the counties between 27 October and 4 December.
