21.12.2021 | In its negotiations on Tuesday 21 December, the Government discussed the COVID-19 situation and decided on new restrictions and other necessary measures. In addition to increasing vaccination coverage, effective national and regional measures to limit close contacts are needed to slow down the spread of the epidemic. This will allow more time for giving people third vaccine doses.

3.12.2021 | All travellers arriving in Finland who were born in 2005 or earlier will be required to show a COVID certificate, or if they do not have such a certificate, they will have to undergo a COVID-19 test. The Government has issued a decree that repeals the Government Decree on exceptions to the obligation to present the EU Digital COVID Certificate or undergo a COVID-19 test.

22.12.2021 | The temporary provisions of the Communicable Diseases Act will be extended until the end of June 2022. For the most part, the provisions will remain as they are at present. The President of the Republic approved the Act on Temporarily Amending the Communicable Diseases Act on 22 December 2021.

3.12.2025 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has published the Non-Violent Childhoods Action Plan for 2026–2033 aimed at preventing all forms of violence against children. The plan, which will be implemented at the government level, is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Lanzarote Convention and national statutes that require all forms of violence against children to be combated.

3.11.2025 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is requesting comments on a draft new act on healthcare and social welfare units that assist in investigating suspected offences involving children. The aim is to make the child-friendly Barnahus model a permanent part of the investigation of suspected offences involving children. Comments can be submitted between 3 November and 15 December.

22.12.2016 | Sales-based alcohol consumption in the Nordic Countries has decreased the most in Denmark and Finland. However, these countries are still the largest consumers of alcohol. In 2014, 9.5 litres of alcohol were consumed in Denmark per resident over the age of 15. In Finland the figure was 8.8 litres and in Greenland 8.6 litres.

Ministrarna ska diskutera strategisk autonomi när det gäller hälsa, och i synnerhet hur tillgången till läkemedel i Europa kan säkerställas. Under mötet ska man också godkänna slutsatserna om psykisk hälsa. Finland representeras vid mötet av ministern för social trygghet Sanni Grahn-Laasonen.

30.9.2021 | I Finland har 83,8 procent av befolkningen i målgruppen för vaccinationerna, dvs. 12 år fyllda och äldre, fått den första vaccindosen, och 69,7 procent båda vaccindoserna. Under den senaste veckan (22–29.9.) ökade vaccinationstäckningen för den första dosen med 0,4 procentenheter, och med 2,5 procentenheter för den andra dosen.
