Letter from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health to the regional state administrative agencies: guidelines on hygiene and physical distancing to be followed at the premises of educational institutions
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has issued new instructions to regional state administrative agencies for the implementation of government resolutions. Regional state administrative agencies are urged to take measures to enable the taking into use of premises of upper secondary schools, vocational schools, universities of applied sciences, universities and those of liberal education as well as basic adult education as of 14 May, if necessary.
The purpose of the measures is to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in society. The measures will be carried out under the Communicable Diseases Act.
By its resolution of 6 May 2020, the Government has outlined the use of premises in upper secondary schools, vocational schools, universities of applied sciences, universities and liberal education. It recommended that distance learning be continued until the end of the semester. Education providers can decide for themselves the extent to which they will arrange contact teaching as necessary.
The premises of educational institutions may be taken into use if they comply with the guidelines on hygiene and physical distancing. The Ministry of Education and Culture and the National Institute for Health and Welfare have prepared guidelines on the use of these premises.
