Responsibilities in preventing domestic and family in the Ministry’s branch of government
The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) coordinates the nationwide work to prevent domestic and family violence. It also coordinates the network of coordinators and operators responsible for domestic violence issues, which started operating in spring 2023.
The municipalities and wellbeing services counties are responsible for promoting wellbeing, health and safety. The wellbeing services counties are responsible for organising health services for victims of violence. Organisations also play an important role in producing services for victims and other parties involved. Organisations can be a good partner for the authorities when planning the work against violence.
