National telephone service 0295 535 535 to give advice on coronavirus

A new national telephone service provides general information about the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

At this stage the primary target group of the service are those who are unable to access information on the Internet. Later on, the service will be gradually expanded to serve other groups as well.

The national telephone service does not give health advice or instructions to callers who have acute symptoms.

Comprehensive information on the coronavirus situation is available at the website of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The advice given by the new telephone service will be based on the information available on THL’s website.

The telephone advice service is open on weekdays from 8 to 21 and on Saturdays from 9 to 15. The service is currently available in Finnish and, where possible, also in Swedish and English. The service will be expanded according to developments in the coronavirus situation.

The new telephone service gives only general information about the coronavirus disease. People who need detailed advice or guidance should call:

  • The local health station when they need general health advice
  • The local emergency health services when they have acute symptoms of the disease
  • The local emergency number in areas where the Medical Helpline 116 117 is not yet in use
  • The 112 emergency number in life-threatening emergencies.
