Zambia's Minister of Community Development to visit the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health
On 26 October, Minister of Social Affairs and Health Hanna Mäntylä and Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Juha Rehula will meet in Helsinki with Emerine Kabanshi the Zambian minister responsible for community development and mother and child health.
The key themes of the minister's visit will be the disabled and social security, which are also within the scope of the minister's responsibilities.
Finland is taking part in funding a social security project in Zambia the second stage of which will be launched next year. The purpose of this project is to support the disadvantaged as well as to minimise the income gap and inequality in Zambia
Zambia is Finland's long-term partner in development cooperation. Finland has supported its social security and disability sectors in a comparatively broad scope over the years. Finland's development cooperation with Zambia, located in Southern Africa, began in the 1970s.
