Tero Varjoranta designated as the Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency
Bulletin by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Finland, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority Finland and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland
Director General of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, Mr. Tero Varjoranta, has been designated as the next Deputy Director General for Safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Mr Varjojaranta will head the Department of Safeguards at the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Department of Safeguard's primary role is to deter the proliferation of nuclear weapons by detecting early the misuse of nuclear material or technology, and by providing credible assurances that States are honouring their safeguards obligations.
Mr. Varjoranta will officially assume his position at the beginning of October.Additional information
