Health and driving - new rules for doctors

Ministry of Social Affairs and Health
Publication date 8.1.2007 9.01
Press release 6/2007

The MSAH introduced new rules in mid-January for the procedure doctors should follow when stipulating that patients should stop driving vehicles due to ill health.

The rules now contain a verbal prohibition on patients’ driving. This is followed by tighter measures if patients do not comply, first a written prohibition sent to the police with patients’ permission, followed by a similar referral without patients’ permission, if they are clearly in no condition to drive but persist in doing so.
