Electronic patient records key part of IT support
The MSAH has decided on funding for key IT projects, allocating EUR 11 million for 2004.
The sum will be roughly doubled by funds contributed by individual and groups of municipalities.
The spending on IT will cover regional joint information administration, taking part in national information development and compatibility work and the gradual introduction of a national system of electronic patient records. Over half of the IT funding will cover work conducted under the National Healthcare Project.
Regional IT projects will be carried out under the guidance of the MSAH and in cooperation with other nationally funded schemes.
In early May, a conference held in Tampere on healthcare automatic data processing examined recommendations on the introduction of electronic patient records and their regional implementation.
