Campaign seeks better workplace environments
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is coordinating a campaign that aims to improve working conditions and the work environment. A number of other ministries, labour and employer organisations and other institutions dealing with working life are involved in the campaign.
Publicised under the theme Älä ole masokisti ‘(Don’t be a masochist’), the high visibility campaign is designed to improve awareness among employees that they do not need to endure a bad working atmosphere or a poor sense of job cooperation in their workplaces.
The campaign is being run as part of efforts to improve work attraction and encourage people to remain longer in working life. This is one of the solutions being highlighted in initiatives aiming to cope with the effects of population ageing.
‘The campaign for people to stay in employment and cope at work is already a challenge from the point of view of its timing. But the workplace atmosphere itself has also long been a challenge, even though research shows that Finns accept the idea of remaining a little longer in work,” says Eeva Larjomaa the head of the ministry’s Communication and Information Unit.
The campaign is being run in two parts. The first is directed at all employees. In the spring, an information campaign will focus on work place department heads and middle management.
