Suomi ratifioi suuronnettomuuksien torjuntaa koskevan sopimuksen

Finland has today ratified the International Labour Organization ILO's Convention on the Prevention of Major Industrial Accidents. The President of the Republic also approved the bill that carries into effect the legal provisions related to the Convention. Provisions on the entry into force of the Act are issued separately in a Government Decree. The Convention concerns the prevention of major accidents in industry, and its purpose is to ensure preparation for major accidents involving hazardous substances and to limit the consequences of such accidents. The Convention defines the principles for preventing major accidents alongside the obligations and rights of employers, authorities and employees. The Finnish legislation already covers the issues defined in the Convention. Until now Finland has ratified 83 ILO Conventions.
