It is again possible to write e-prescriptions via the Effica patient information system
Electronic prescribing via the Effica system was forbidden on Friday 23 September 2011 as a precautionary measure as a result of users' observations. The system vendor Tieto Oyj undertook immediately measures to make the alterations required by authorities.
On Monday 3 October 2011 users of Effica from health care organisations in Kotka and in the regions of East Savo and Päijät-Häme took part in testing the system. The participants tested if the illogical functionalities had been changed as required by users.
Tieto Oyj changed the functionalities used in Effica's e-prescribing system taking account of the feedback from users. There is no more any obstacle to writing e-prescriptions via Effica after the alterations made to the system. The detailed planning of continued use will take place in the health care units concerned.
The introduction of e-prescriptions continues as planned before.
