22.5.2025 | Ukraine held a Ministerial Social Policy Summit in Lviv on 22 May. The theme of the Summit was ‘Building Resilient Societies: Innovative Solutions for Demographic Change’. The Summit also issued a joint communiqué, in which the participating countries expressed their support for Ukraine and Moldova on their path towards joining the European Union.

In accordance with the Government Programme of Prime Minister Orpo's Government, solving the shortage of personnel threatening the availability of services in the welfare society requires both short-term and long-term measures. The Good Work Programme will be launched to ensure the sufficiency and availability of personnel in the health, social services and rescue services sectors.

31.5.2018 | A working group, appointed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, proposes a road map for ending the use of tobacco and other nicotine products in Finland by 2030. It would mean that less than 5% of the adult population use tobacco and nicotine products daily. Reaching this goal, recorded in the Tobacco Act, requires that the future governments monitor and assess tobacco policy and develop new measures.

OECD:n ja European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies -seurantalaitoksen tuoreen maaraportin mukaan hoitoon pääsy ei kuitenkaan toteudu Suomessa yhdenvertaisesti. Vuonna 2024 lääketieteellistä hoitoa tarvinneista 12,4 prosenttia ilmoitti, ettei ollut saanut tarvitsemiaan palveluja. Osuus on EU:n toiseksi korkein.

Trots det visar den färska landsrapport från OECD och European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies som gäller Finland att alla inte får tillgång till vård på lika villkor i Finland. Av de som behövde medicinsk vård år 2024 meddelade 12,4 procent att de inte fick de tjänster som de behövde. Andelen är näst störst i EU.

10.12.2019 | The Council of the European Union adopted conclusions on gender equality and occupational safety and health at the last meeting of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council under Finland’s Presidency on 10 December. The meeting was chaired by Minister of Employment Timo Harakka.

The 11th annual Gender Equality Days (Tasa-arvopäivät) were organised on 8-9 October 2025 at the Clarion Hotel Aviapolis in Vantaa. 

15.12.2016 | Finland’s drug policy will in the years ahead emphasise continued and improved long-term work at basic level as well as cooperation between various stakeholders. Prevention and early intervention play key roles in actions to prevent drug addiction, criminal behaviour and social exclusion among young people. In practical work the primary aim is to influence drug demand and supply, reduce drug-related harm and promote fundamental and human rights.
