The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is requesting comments on a change to the national vaccination programme that would mean offering the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine to everyone who is pregnant. The vaccine is safe for both the mother and the foetus, and it would prevent the majority of severe whooping cough cases in babies under three months of age.

The Government of Finland awards the International Gender Equality Prize now for the fourth time. We are now asking for nominations for the 2025 candidate. Anyone is welcome to make a nomination.

The Nordic ministers for health and social affairs will meet in Tornio on Wednesday 9 April 2025. The meeting will be hosted by Finnish Minister of Social Affairs and Health Kaisa Juuso. The themes of the meeting will be cross-border cooperation on preparedness, the availability of healthcare and social welfare personnel, the potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and social welfare, and AI and the rights of persons with disabilities.
