Minister of Social Affairs and Health Sarkkinen visits Tallinn to discuss the development of social security and the situation of Ukrainian refugees
Minister of Social Affairs and Health Hanna Sarkkinen will visit Tallinn on 29 June to meet with Estonia’s Minister of Social Protection Signe Riisalo. The topics to be discussed include the situation of Ukrainian refugees and the social security systems in both countries and developing them.
The Finnish and Estonian ministers responsible for social affairs will discuss supporting Ukrainian refugees and the best practices in this regard.
“My colleague Signe Riisalo and I will discuss the current situation and the services and social security to be provided to refugees,” says Minister Hanna Sarkkinen.
During the day, the Ministers will visit the passenger ship M/S Isabella that has been converted into an accommodation facility for refugees and learn about the services provided on board.
Another key topic that the ministers will discuss is social security and its development. In recent years, family benefits have been developed both in Finland and in Estonia.
“In addition to the development of family benefits, I am looking forward to hearing about the utilisation of digitalisation in the Estonian social security system,” says Minister Sarkkinen.
