Fourteen-day maximum waiting time guarantee to remain in force
According to a government proposal submitted to Parliament today, the maximum waiting time for access to non-urgent care in primary healthcare would continue to be 14 days. In other words, the maximum waiting time guarantee that entered into force on 1 September 2023 would remain in force.
The 14-day maximum waiting time guarantee would apply to primary healthcare for which the wellbeing services counties are responsible, student healthcare for higher education students, primary healthcare in prisons, and some of the primary healthcare services organised by reception centres.
The aim of the proposal is to ensure access to non-urgent care in public healthcare within a rea-sonable time and to improve service providers’ possibilities to provide the relevant services within the maximum period provided by law.
The proposal concerns the 2024 budget proposal and is intended for consideration in connection with it. The proposed Acts would enter into force on 1 November 2024.
