Anna Cantell-Forsbom appointed as Director General of the Department for Clients and Services in Healthcare and Social Welfare at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health
On Thursday 24 November, the Government appointed Anna Cantell-Forsbom as Director General of the Department for Clients and Services in Healthcare and Social Welfare at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. She will take up her duties on 1 December 2022. The appointment is for a fixed term until 31 May 2024. During this time, she will be deputising for Satu Koskela as Director General.
Cantell-Forsbom has served as Director of the Children and Young People Unit at the Ministry’s Department for Communities and Functional Capacity since 2020. Between 1987 and 2020, she worked for the City of Vantaa. She spent most of that time working in various managerial and supervisory positions in early childhood education and care and in services for children and families, most recently as director of family services. Cantell-Forsbom holds the degree of Master of Education.
The Department for Clients and Services in Healthcare and Social Welfare prepares and develops issues pertaining to the position and rights of clients and patients, healthcare and social welfare employees, and health and social services.
The National Advisory Board on Social Welfare and Health Care Ethics (ETENE), the National Advisory Board on Romani Affairs (RONK) and the Advisory Board for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (VANE) operate within this Department.
