Pirkko Mattila appointed new Minister of Social Affairs and Health
On Thursday 25 August, the President of the Republic appointed Pirkko Mattila as Minister of Social Affairs and Health.
In the same context, the President of the Republic released Minister of Social Affairs and Health Hanna Mäntylä from her duties.
Mattila is a second-term Member of Parliament representing the Finns Party. She has served as an MP since 2011. She holds a Master of Arts degree and is also a trained anaesthetic nurse and teacher.
Mattila has worked as a nurse and as a trainer at Oulu Adult Education Centre. Mattila has chaired the Administration Committee of Parliament since June 2012.
She was born in Yli-Ii, in northern Finland in 1964. Her hobbies include orienteering, among other things.
Niina Perälä and Tiina Ullvén-Putkonen are special advicers to minister Mattila. They were both previously working as special advisers to Hanna Mäntylä.
