Finland’s and Åland’s Ministers for Nordic Cooperation Anders Adlercreutz and Annika Hambrudd will co-host the summer meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation in Helsinki on 10–11 June.
The meeting’s theme is societal security, including preparedness and resilience. The ministers will discuss current cooperation within the Nordic Council of Ministers to promote societal security on the basis of the joint statement issued by the Prime ministers in May. Cooperation will focus on preparedness for civilian crises and securing the vital functions of society.
“It is a pleasure to have our Nordic colleagues in Helsinki. The past years have shown how important it is that various actors deepen their cooperation to promote comprehensive security. Preparedness together with our closest neighbours is essential so that we can better respond to cross-border crises,” says Minister Anders Adlercreutz.
In connection with the summer meeting, the ministers will also visit the Merihaka civil defence shelter and hold a meeting with the Nordic Freedom of Movement Council in the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress to discuss the priorities for removing cross-border barriers in the coming years.
Finland and Åland are holding the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2025. The aim for Finland and Åland’s co-presidency is to promote the Nordic prime ministers’ shared vision for the Nordic Region to be the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030.
