The Government’s actions have a significant impact on the everyday lives of Finnish people and on society as a whole. The ministries communicate openly about the preparation of matters, the decision-making process and the effects of decisions. The Government and its ministries usually communicate about important issues at least through a press release.
Security situation
Finland’s security environment changed when Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Finland is not facing an immediate military threat, but the Government and the authorities are continuously monitoring the situation and assessing how it may evolve. Finland is well prepared for different kinds of crises and incidents.

General Government Fiscal Plan
The General Government Fiscal Plan covers all of public finances. This means that in addition to central government finances, it also covers local government finances, the finances of wellbeing services counties, pension funds and other social security funds. The plan also includes a decision on spending limits, which provides a framework for central government expenditure.
