31.5.2018 | A working group, appointed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, proposes a road map for ending the use of tobacco and other nicotine products in Finland by 2030. It would mean that less than 5% of the adult population use tobacco and nicotine products daily. Reaching this goal, recorded in the Tobacco Act, requires that the future governments monitor and assess tobacco policy and develop new measures.

10.12.2020 | The number of new coronavirus infections is still at a high level and a number of regions are in the community transmission phase. It is possible that the epidemic will take a sudden turn for the worse across the country. However, there are indications that the sharp increase in new cases we saw in mid-November seems to have levelled off. We will have to wait a few weeks more before we can see the effects of the regional restrictions and recommendations. 

12.12.2019 | Today, on 12 December 2019, the Finnish Government adopted a decree that sets binding limit values for 22 new carcinogenic agents. In addition, the previous limit values for two carcinogenic agents were revised. So far, only three substances have had binding limit values.

25.11.2019 | Work-related cancer is a Europe-wide problem, and the Roadmap on Carcinogens campaign is looking for common solutions. The campaign will bring a group of top experts in the field to Finland on 27–28 November for a conference that is part of the official programme of the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
