Developing material readiness and preparedness in the EU

Finland contributes to the development of EU-level strategic capacities in order to enable response to the changing security environment and to new threats. The rescEU capabilities of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (such as the stockpiling of medicines, medical supplies, personal protective equipment and measuring equipment) are part of EU-level capacity development.

Two of these strategic reserve projects are currently underway in Finland. The Ministry of the Interior will carry out the projects together with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, the National Emergency Supply Agency and the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority.

At the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the Preparedness Unit coordinates and implements the rescEU reserve projects.
