Interpretation of the strategic vision

A picture tells more than a thousand words – making the story known

The strategic vision Promoting societal integration and sustainable wellbeing whilst our working life is evolving has seven priorities:

  1. Strengthening societal integration and economic growth
  2. Enhancing citizen participation in local communities and society
  3. Ensuring needs-based, efficient and cost-effective services and benefits
  4. Constructing an environment that promotes safety and wellbeing
  5. Ensuring the financial sustainability of our social security and insurance system
  6. Supporting wellbeing whilst our working life is evolving
  7. Creating sustainable solutions in collaboration with others

This strategic vision is illustrated as one main image complemented by seven pictures visualising our strategic priorities. The intention is that our strategic vision will invite discussion!

The Ministry’s power plant transforms continuous winds of change into good energy that strengthens and illuminates all of Finland.

Finland is a vibrant and renewing society that creates a good base for wellbeing. Inclusion, the segments of life in balance and prevention of diseases and problems increase the ability to function, prevent inequality and create growth. Finland is an internationally interesting environment for social and health sector innovation.

2. Enhancing citizen participation in local communities and society

Individuals have the power to build a piece of the puzzle. They are also responsible for fitting this piece into the whole. Those unable to do this on their own are supported.

Everyone can influence decisions and services concerning his or her own life.
Inclusion, equity and equality create a socially sustainable and fair society.

3. Ensuring needs-based, efficient and cost-effective services and benefits

With the help of data, timely and proactive health and social care services as well as benefits function like a smoothly gliding zip.

Health and social care services as well as benefits create needs-based support packages for individuals in different life situations.

4. Constructing an environment that promotes safety and wellbeing

We create an operating culture based on trust and safety whilst being prepared for different environmental threats.

The environment supports the wellbeing, safety and trust of people and communities. Any harm and safety risks arising from the environment are kept under control. Society is unobstructed and accessible to all. Accidents and violence are minimised.

5. Ensuring the financial sustainability of our social security and insurance system

Everyone participates in building the financing cushion by contributing euros or other inputs for the common good. Working and developing one’s competence brings meaning to life and is always worthwhile.

Financial sustainability depends on a high employment rate, people’s good health and functionality as well as effective and efficient health and social care services. The stability brought by social insurance funds helps secure the sustainability of public finances. The social insurance system is trusted by beneficiaries and financiers.

6. Supporting wellbeing whilst our working life is evolving

We build (digital) bridges within the evolving working life, either ourselves or in cooperation with others. We ease the burden of working.

Various forms of work support people’s opportunities to participate in society. Work provides a livelihood and gives meaning to life as well as secures welfare financing. Participation in work reduces inequalities.

7. Creating sustainable solutions in collaboration with others

Now is the time to go ahead at full throttle! We can make energy flow together with our, sometimes surprising, partners. No one can operate the lever on their own. Innovations and experiments illuminate like a lighthouse.

Our changing operating environment requires new skills, open-mindedness and agility. We anticipate future needs and our role in relation to this. We build new kinds of know-how and cooperation networks.
